Meet the Manchester Liberal

Your humble narrator

“nobody can be a great economist who is only an economist” – Friedrich von Hayek

Don’t let the name fool you, I’m actually from Sheffield. I’m a former Conservative party and UKIP voter/sympathiser/member (depending on when you read this) with a liberal outlook on economic and social issues.

I have a BSc in Economic and Social Policy from Birkbeck College and am currently studying for an MSc in Economic History at the London School of Economics.

I am a Fellow of The Cobden Centre and former Contributing Editor of The Commentator. Writing mostly on economics and politics I have also written for (in no particular order) Standpoint, Economic Affairs, The Wall Street Journal Europe, Conservative Home, London Student, City AM, Global Politics and openDemocracy. I also write for Middlebrow Magazine on other topics; music, film, theatre, poetry etc, under a pseudonym.

You can catch me on Twitter @TheBoyPhelan

If you want to send me fan mail or death threats my address is I’d rather get fan mail, but beggars can’t be choosers

You can find out more about the nickname here
